My name is Matt Timlin, I'm a high school physics teacher with over a decade of experience teaching physics and Earth Science of all levels from applied to AP. Before I became a teacher I worked in the aerospace industry as a project manager, and before that I got my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Connecticut.
I constantly tell my physics students that when you're first presented with a problem, it's very unlikely you'll know exactly what to do for every step from beginning to solution. That's not the point, the point is that you need to learn how to just get started. Write down what the problem tells you, ask yourself what you can do with that info, then just start trying things until you're able to solve the puzzle.
Here's where I'm trying to follow my own advice. I could wait and constantly try to perfect everything before I hit that very scary 'publish' button at the top of this page, or I could accept that it's better to just start. So here we are at the start.
My goal for this site is to eventually turn it into the single best resource out there for physics teachers. I want this to be the one site every new or veteran physics teacher has bookmarked on their web browser. Eventually I'd like to make this into a paid resource that offers premium functionality in addition to all the free resources I have planned. To put it plainly, I've found helpful resources across many different websites, but I've never found one that has everything I want. This site is where I wish to make the one stop shop resource I always wanted for myself.
Blank canvases are intimidating. Now my canvas isn't blank anymore so I can focus on filling in the rest. Stay tuned to see what I'm able to come up with!
Take care,
-Matt
Hi Matt!
