Time to Start Getting Ready

August always signals the home stretch for summer leading into the new school year. I've spent a lot of time this summer working on the behind the scenes things for this site. I know that if you look it might not seem like much has happened, but I assure you I've put a lot of work into this. Going into this school year I have about 15 simulators, 7 conceptual trainers, 2 practice generators, and 5 teacher tools made. It's no exaggeration to say this is just scratching the surface of what I want to create for this site, but since I'm no web developer or programmer even getting that much done took a substantial effort to start.

I haven't really spent any time working on my actual class materials like I thought I would have by this point. Anyone who's a teacher can probably relate to this. Summer's not over for me yet though so I'll have to switch gears soon to begin focusing on prepping my own materials. With my remaining time I'm planning on finishing the how-to write ups for all the apps on this site to make them all a little more user friendly, then start putting the word out to people that might find them useful.

The end of summer can be a very stressful time for any teacher. If you're a teacher and experiencing the ultimate Summer Scaries just know you're not alone. I'll never forget getting ready for my first year teaching when one of my mentors, an amazing physics teacher by the name of Mrs. Banwell, told me that even she never got over the pre-school year anxiety. This woman was a US Navy veteran and had been teaching for 25 years at that point, tough as nails and always calm and level headed, but even she wasn't immune to feeling that nervousness. While it certainly does get substantially easier, it never goes away entirely. That's a good thing, that just means you care.
